INDIANAPOILS, Ind. (AP) – Ohio State struggled shooting ball and Purdue took advantage for a 71-60 victory on Saturday evening in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament.
The loss snaps the Buckeyes’ 12-game win streak as they are now 26-6 on the season.
Kelsey Mitchell was held under 10 points for just the second time in her career, finishing with nine points and two assists.
Freshman Tori McCoy blocked an OSU Big Ten Tournament record seven shots. Those were half of the Buckeyes’ Big Ten Tournament record 14 blocks in the game.
Ashley Morrissette had 24 points and seven assists to lean Purdue.
The Boilermakers and the Buckeyes were tied 11 times in the first half. Purdue (21-11, 10-6) made eight 3-pointers, including two at the end of the half that gave it a five-point lead at the break.
The difference was at the foul line. Purdue shot 91 percent from the free-throw line (21 of 23) while the Buckeyes were 47 percent (7 of 15).
The Buckeyes will now wait their NCAA Tournament fate as Selection Monday is set for March 13.
