Belkis Sanchez, Senior Athletic Academic Counselor, has been selected for the 13th annual Professional Development Institute (PDI) hosted by the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A). Sanchez is headed to Orlando, FL June 6-8 for this unique leadership experience.
PDI is a two-day pre-convention professional development program that helps athletic support professionals enhance their knowledge, skills, and attributes in order to excel in their careers. Seasoned practitioners will facilitate interactive sessions for participants surrounding developmental advising, monitoring eligibility, working effectively with coaches, coordinating support services, and climbing the career ladder. After completion of the program, PDI graduates are provided continuous professional development opportunities, including attending the N4A Conference in the days following.
“I am extremely grateful to have been selected to participate in such a prestigious program,” says Sanchez. “N4A has been an integral part of my development as a professional. I look forward to what PDI will have to offer and I am honored to be able to bring back what I will learn to the rest of the SASSO team.”
Several SASSO staff members are graduates of the PDI program, including: Adam Hatem, Kaitlin Flaherty, and Stephon Fuqua (senior athletic academic counselors); Dana Blount (Assistant Director); Vicki Melnick (Director of Academic Services); and Kim Doran (Director for Instructional Support Services).
