Ohio State Student-Athletes to Receive Degrees at Winter Commencement

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Twenty-five current and former Ohio State student-athletes will earn their degrees from The Ohio State University at Winter Quarter Commencement in the Jerome Schottenstein Center at 2 p.m. Sunday (today). The ceremony will be streamed online: http://commencement.osu.edu/video.php.
The graduates, representing 12 sports, include All-Americans, all-conference performers and Academic All-Big Ten selections.
Jason Winrow will become the 137th former athlete to graduate from Ohio State's highly successful Degree Completion Program, earning his degree is in economics. A four-year football letterman between 1990-93, Winrow was an All-Big Ten Conference offensive guard in 1993 for the 10-1-1 Big Ten co-champion Buckeyes.
Colt Sponseller, a 2011 senior captain on the wrestling team, concluded his Buckeye career as an All-American. A three-time NCAA championships qualifier (2009, 2010, 2011), Sponseller was the 2010 and 2011 Big Ten Championships runner-up at 165 pounds. Academically, the marketing major was a 2008 NWCA Freshman All-Academic Team selection, 2010 and 2011 NWCA All-Academic Team member, two-time Academic All-Big Ten and three-time Ohio State Scholar Athlete.
A psychology major, Liz Sullivan of the women's soccer team served as the president of the Student-Athlete Board and was very involved on campus and in the community in addition to starting all but one match her last two seasons on defense. She helped Ohio State to back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Round of 16, including an appearance in the NCAA College Cup as a junior. A Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner, Sullivan was a Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District and Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
Finance major Sean Duddy, a two-time men's hockey captain, concluded his Buckeye career earlier this month and signed a professional contract with the Gwinnett Gladiators Tuesday, making his pro debut Thursday and picking up an assist. A Top 10 finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten selection had a career year as a senior, with 13 assists and 14 points. He played in 124 games as a Buckeye with two goals, 22 assists and 24 points. Duddy was Ohio State's recipient of the CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor and is a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, first team Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District selection and Academic All-Big Ten choice.
