COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State Department of Athletics announced Tuesday the 2014 Huntington Bucks Go Pro Class, made up of 20 student-athletes from 12 different sports, who will be interning within the athletics department this summer.

The second-year intern program aims to give student-athletes valuable experience working within a university athletics department and helping them in their desired career paths. They will be working a minimum of 100 hours and will be paid $1,500 for their duties.

Associate athletics director Janine Oman, who is heading up the program, said there are five goals for the summer internship:

1. Provide the student-athletes with meaningful work experience in a professional setting;
2. Help enhance student-athletes' resumes;
3. Teach student-athletes how to develop a network of colleagues;
4. Expand our student-athletes' references beyond their professors and coaches; and
5. Help our student-athletes be better prepared for life after college and represent Ohio State with class in their professional endeavors.

"The program has evolved this year and staff members and student-athletes have worked hard to create even more value for our student-athletes," Oman said. "This internship is more focused and has even more learning opportunities built in."

Andrew Lutz, a redshirt junior on the Ohio State men's volleyball team, is majoring an exercise science education and will be interning with the sport performance office.

"I hope to gain valuable experience working with Division I athletes in the area of sport performance," Lutz said. "I look forward to learning more about different aspects of strength and condition, nutrition, and physical therapy and what each job fully consists of."

Anna Lind, a junior on the Ohio State rowing team, is majoring in new media and communications technology with a minor and visual communication design. She will be interning in the creative services office.

"Through the Bucks Go Pro internship, I am hoping to not only gain a more advanced knowledge with popular design software and programs but also understand the dynamics of a collaborative design team," Lind said.
