COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio State men's cross country team placed eighth at the 2012 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships in Madison, Wis., Friday, Nov. 9.

Leading the way for the Scarlet and Gray on the 10k course, senior Donny Roys earned All-Regional honors with an 11th-place time of 31:19. The rest of the Top 5 for the Buckeyes was all freshmen. Brian Hannaford finished 39th with a time of 32:07. Curtis Hanle and Nick Pupino finished 63rd and 67th, respectively, with times of 32:32 and 32:37. Blake Taneff rounded out the quartet of freshman with a time of 33:04 finishing in 89th place.

"Donny ran a fantastic race for us today and we are excited to have him qualify as an individual to the national championships," distance coach Brice Allen said after the meet. "As a team, finishing eighth overall proves we are moving in the right direction."

Sixth-ranked Wisconsin won the Great Lakes Regional Championships with a team score of 43.  Wisconsin senior Mohammed Ahmed posted the best individual time (30:37). Second place went to No. 12 Michigan (73 points), while No. 20 Indiana took bronze with a score 107.
