Buckeyes Finish Seventh at Great Lakes Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s cross country team finished seventh out of 31 teams Friday afternoon at the 10k NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Madison, Wis.
Sophomore Nick Pupino earned All-Regional honors with a 20th-place finish overall in 30:55, while sophomores Michael Brajdic (31:25) and Brian Hannaford (31:26) were 37th and 38th, respectively. Also scoring for the Buckeyes were sophomores Blake Taneff (50th, 31:43) and Curtis Hanle (57th, 31:51).
“The men had a great start and put themselves in the lead pack through 3k,” distance coach Brice Allen said after the race. “We improved our score from 2012 by 67 points and one place. We’re very optimistic for the future.”
No. 16 Michigan ended Wisconsin’s 11-year run at the top of the Great Lakes region with a winning team score of 70. The 19th-ranked Badgers earned the second NCAA automatic-qualifying spot with a score of 73. No. 22 Notre Dame was third (74 points), while Big Ten champion and 11th-ranked Indiana was fourth (75). The Buckeyes totaled 202 points, finishing 39 points out of sixth place.
