Ohio State Takes 10th at Regional Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s cross country team finished 10th out of 30 teams at the 2015 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships Friday afternoon in Madison, Wis.

Competing in his first regional meet, sophomore Evan Stifel paced the Buckeyes with a 10k personal-best time of 31:29.5 to finish 30th overall. Sophomore Nick Elswick also ran a 10k PR for Ohio State, finishing 43rd in 31:48.9.

Finishing third for Ohio State was sophomore Mitch Leitch, who crossed the line 58th overall in a time of 32.13.7. Sophomore Clayton Bowie (32:19.8) and junior Jared Fleming (77th, 32:33.4) completed scoring for the Buckeyes.

No. 5 Michigan, the Big Ten champion, also claimed the regional title with a team score of 67. Michigan State was second with 88 points, followed by MAC champ Eastern Michigan (102). OSU finished the meet with 271 points.
