Roys, Buckeyes Finish Eighth at the Big Ten Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's cross country team turned in an eighth-place finish at the 2012 Big Ten Cross Country Championships Sunday afternoon in East Lansing, Mich. Senior Donny Roys led the way for the Scarlet and Gray on the 8k course, earning All-Big Ten honors with a 12th-place time of 24:10. Redshirt freshmen Curtis Hanle and Blake Taneff stepped up as well, running personal-best times of 24:43 and 24:52 for 41st and 46th, respectively. Also scoring for the Buckeyes were true freshmen Jordan Redd (55th, 25:03) and Nick Pupino (56th, 25:04) 20th-ranked Wisconsin captured its 14th-consecutive Big Ten title with a team score of 33. Runner-up honors went to No. 11 Michigan (65 points), while No. 24 Indiana finished third (79). Indiana’s Zach Mayhew won the individual title in a time of 23:30.
