COLUMBUS, Ohio - Hunter Stieber, the No. 4 Ohio State wrestling team's second-ranked 141-pounder, was named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week, the official site of USA Wrestling announced Monday. Stieber, the 141-pound champion at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Wrestling Invitational, helped the Buckeyes defend their CKLV title Dec. 1 by beating No. 7 Missouri by one point, 124.5-123.5.

"This staff and team are proud of Hunter," Tom Ryan, head coach, said. "He is a tremendous worker and that is the foundation of all his success."

Stieber, a sophomore from Monroeville, Ohio, and Oregon State's and No. 2 Michael Mangrum met in the final of the event for the second consecutive year. After falling to Mangrum, 6-3, in 2011, Stieber was able to reverse the result this year with a 9-6 victory. En route to the final, the No. 1 seeded Stieber beat the No. 4 and No. 8 seeds on his way to a perfect 15-0 record in 2012.

Ohio State returns to action at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 when it hosts Kent State at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 in St. John Arena. The Buckeyes lead the all-time series vs. the Golden Flashes, 12-6, including a 22-15 win in Kent, Ohio, last season.
