No. 9 Ohio State Opens Home Schedule Friday

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 9 Ohio State wrestling team will begin the 2013-14 dual season Friday when it hosts Notre Dame College at 7 p.m. in St. John Arena. Fans can follow live updates of the match via Twitter, Trackwrestling.com, and/or Buckeye Vision.

The Buckeyes will not return to St. John Arena again until Jan. 24 when they face Nebraska live on BTN.com at 7 p.m.

Opening Act
Ohio State is 60-32-1 all-time in season openers and 50-36-1 in home openers. The Buckeyes have won five of their last six season and home openers.

2013-14 Team Captains
Seniors Nick Heflin and Ian Paddock and redshirt junior Logan Stieber will represent the Buckeyes as the 2013-14 team captains, Tom Ryanhead coach, announced.

Climbing Record Books
Logan Stieber, a redshirt junior from Monroeville, Ohio, currently is in third place on Ohio State's career winning percentage list (minimum 40 matches). Stieber's .929 winning percentage (65-5) trails No.1 Mark Coleman (50-2; .962 in 1988) and No. 2 Rex Holman (69-3; .958 from 1992-93).

In the Future
Ohio State will not return to St. John Arena until Jan. 24, a 7 p.m. match vs. Nebraska live on BTN.com. The Buckeyes will wrestle on the road for eight consecutive matches, not including the annual CKLV Wrestling Invitational Dec. 6-7. Up next, for the Scarlet and Gray is a 7 p.m. start time at Duke in Durham, N.C. Live streaming/television broadcast (if available) will be announced at a later date.

Buckeyes vs. Falcons
Ohio State and Notre Dame College will meet for the fourth time Friday with the Scarlet and Gray owning a 3-0 advantage. The Buckeyes and Falcons wrestled for the first time in 2007, a 36-6 Ohio State victory. The following season, the Tom Ryan-led Buckeyes defeated the Falcons, 34-6. In 2009, Ohio State secured a 37-3 win in St. John Arena.

Last Time Out
The 2013-14 season officially commenced for No. 12 Ohio State Nov. 3 when it traveled to Clarion, Pa., for the Clarion Open.

Nick Heflin won the 197-pound title, while Randy Languis and Kenny Courts were runners-up at 157 and 184 pounds, respectively. A quartet of Buckeyes was third-place finishers in Nick Roberts (125 pounds), Johnni DiJulius (133 pounds), Mark Martin (174 pounds) and Nick Tavanello(HWT) as they opened the season with solid performances.

A week later at the Michigan State Open in East Lansing, Ohio State team members had successful outings. Courts won the 184-pound title and senior Ian Paddock (149 pounds) and Roberts (125 pounds) finished in the Top 5 with third and fifth-place finishes, respectively.
