COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 2013-14 season will begin for the No. 12 Ohio State wrestling team this weekend with back-to-back events Saturday and Sunday. Two-time defending NCAA champion Logan Stieber will compete in the NWCA All-Star Classic Saturday night. The Buckeyes then will participate in the Clarion Open Sunday.
NWCA All-Star Classic
The 2013 NWCA All-Star Classic will begin at 7 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on Flowrestling.com at the Patriot Center on the George Mason University campus in Fairfax, Va. The exhibition match up between Stieber and Oklahoma’s Kendric Maple at 149 pounds is the featured bout as fans voted for the match to conclude the event. Both Stieber and Maple finished the 2012-13 season undefeated and were crowned NCAA champions. Stieber, a native of Monroeville, Ohio, won the 133-pound NCAA title in 2012 and 2013, while Maple was the 2013 winner at 141 pounds. The All-Star classic matches will be wrestled in the following order - 125, 133, 157, 184, 197, 285, 165, 174, 141 and 149.

Buckeyes Hit the Road for Clarion Open
Ohio State (minus Logan Stieber) will travel to Clarion, Pa., for the Clarion Open Nov. 3. The day-long event is the opening contest for the Buckeyes and will feature both attached and unattached wrestlers. The Clarion Open also will serve as the first collegiate event for Buckeye freshmen Jacob Bresciani, Matt Davis, Rasheed Flowers, Jake Donatelli, Mike Hozan, Bo Jordan, Blake Riley-Hawkins, Jack Rozema, Nathan Tomasello and Robbie Rogers.
Nick Heflin, Hunter Stieber and Logan Stieber are the Buckeyes’ returning All-Americans. A season ago, Heflin finished fifth at 174 pounds in the NCAA championships and H. Stieber was third at 141 pounds. L. Stieber won his second-consecutive national title at 133 pounds.

Four of Ohio State’s wrestling matches either will air live on BTN or will be streamed live on BTDN (BTN.com) during the 2013-14 season.

Buckeyes Open Season No. 12 in InterMat Rankings
Ohio State is No. 12 in the inaugural InterMat rankings released Oct. 29. The Buckeyes are one of nine Big Ten Conference programs ranked in the Top 20 of the standings.
