COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State wrestling team, ranked 11th in the preseason InterMat polls, held its annual wrestle offs Thursday night in French Field House. The Buckeye season and home opener is Nov. 15 vs. Notre Dame College in St. John Arena.
At 125 pounds, freshman Nathan Tomasello was an 8-3 winner over Nick Roberts, a redshirt freshman, while in the 133-pound bout Johnni DiJulius, who is in his redshirt-sophomore season beat classmate Kyle Visconti, 2-0. Moving up a weight class to 141 pounds, redshirt junior and No. 1 ranked Logan Stieber pinned Jarrod Boone, a junior, in 2:56. Twelfth- ranked senior Ian Paddock pinned freshman Jake Donatelli in the first period in the 149-pound matchup. Moving on to the 157-pound contest, redshirt junior Randy Languis was a 5-2 victor over redshirt freshman Justin Kresevic. Freshman and 2013 Junior Hodge Trophy winner Bo Jordan scored 17 points in his 17-2 win over redshirt sophomore Craig Thomas at 165 pounds. Sophomore Mark Martin scored double-digit points in a 15-4 victory vs. junior Matt O'Hara in the 174-pound bout. Ranked No. 12 in the nation, redshirt sophomore Kenny Courts recorded a 20-5 technical fall (6:46) over redshirt freshman Josh Fox. Jumping to 197 pounds, senior and sixth-ranked Nick Heflin edged junior Ray Gordon, 1-0. In the final match of the evening, redshirt freshman Nick Tavanello won, 3-1, vs. redshirt junior Kosta Karageorge.
