COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Monday marked the first day that NCAA wrestling programs could hold an official team practice, and Ohio State's Tom Ryan sat down with OhioStateBuckeyes.com to touch on a variety of topics, including:
• The transition from preseason to practice/competition season
• Two important events, one that has occurred already and one that is upcoming: the Overtime Dinner and Wrestle-Offs.
• Looking ahead to the first weekend in November when the NWCA All-Star meet and Eastern Michigan Open mark the official start of the 2016-17 season.
• Ohio State has four duals -- three at home -- that will air live on the Big Ten Network this season.
Starting his 11th season at the helm of the Scarlet and Gray, Ryan welcomes four All-Americans and three who have already won NCAA titles in their careers. Eight projected starters are ranked in Flowrestling's projections and as a team, Ohio State is No. 2, the highest amongst the six Big Ten schools in the top 10.
