COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A quartet of Buckeyes -- both current and former -- will compete in the U.S. World Team Trials in Madison, Wisc., June 12-14. Ohio State alums JD Bergman, Reece Humphrey and Logan Stieber along with current Buckeye Kyle Snyder will vie for a coveted spot on the U.S. squad that will represent the United States at the 2015 Senior World Championships Sept. 7-12 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Earlier this spring, all four competed in the ASICS/Las Vegas Senior U.S. Open championships where they qualified for the World Team Trials by finishing in the top five of their respective weight classes. In addition, Humphrey, Bergman, Stieber and Snyder all train in Columbus at the renowned Ohio RTC.

In the last month, Snyder, a 2015 Big Ten and NCAA finalist, has beaten an Olympic champion at the U.S. Open championships (Jake Varner) and the 2014 World bronze medalist at the Beat the Streets "Salsa in the Square." His win over Varner in the 96 kg/213 lbs. finals earned him the U.S. Open Championships' Most Outstanding Wrestler honors.

In his true freshman season with the Buckeyes last year, Snyder went 30-4 with a team-high 15 major decisions and two technical falls. He was the Big Ten and NCAA runner up at 197 pounds, finishing 15-1 in the regular season against Big Ten competition that included a 12-match winning streak from Jan. 11-March 8. His victory over defending champion J'Den Cox in the 197 lbs. NCAA semifinals was instrumental in helping Ohio State earn its first team national title in school history.

Stieber won three wrestleback matches and finished fourth in the 65 kg/143 lbs. division at the U.S. Open championships. He capped his collegiate career last March with his fourth NCAA title and won every major individual award, including the Dan Hodge Trophy, considered to be the Heisman Trophy of collegiate wrestling.

Bergman (96kg/213 pounds) was a three-time All-American for the Buckeyes from 2004-05; 2007-08. He was third at the U.S. Open and also placed third at last year's World Team Trials. In 2013, he was a U.S. Open and World Teams Trials champion. Bergman was a NCAA runner-up at heavyweight for the Buckeyes in 2008.

Humphrey (65kg/143 pounds) was a two-time All-American during his career at Ohio State. He is a three-time US Open champion and two-time World Team member. While at Ohio State, Humphrey finished second nationally in 2009 at 133 lbs. and third in 2010 at 141 lbs.
