Buckeyes Headed to Madison for U.S. Senior/FILA Junior World Team Trials

COLUMBUS, Ohio– A quartet of Buckeyes, former, current and incoming, will compete in either the U.S. Senior or FILA Junior World Team Trials in Madison, Wisconsin, Saturday and Sunday. Ohio State alums J.D. Bergman and Reece Humphrey will vie for a coveted spot on the U.S. squad that will compete at the 2014 World Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan Sept. 8-14. Redshirt-freshman Nathan Tomasello and incoming freshman Kyle Snyder will contend for titles in the FILA Junior World Team portion of the weekend-long event at the Alliant Energy Center.
Earlier this spring, Bergman and Humphrey competed in the ASICS/Las Vegas Senior Open championships where the duo finished third and fifth, respectively. Bergman (97kg/213 pounds) was a three-time All-American for the Buckeyes from 2004-05; 2007-08 and Humphrey (65kg/143 pounds) was a two-time All-American from 2006; 2008-10.
Redshirting in 2013-14, current Buckeye Tomasello claimed the 55kg/121 pounds FILA Junior Freestyle title in April and Snyder, who will join the Scarlet and Gray roster for the 2014-15 season, earned the 96kg/211.5 pound title.
