ITHACA, N.Y. - Cornell's Jeramy Sweany claimed a 3-0 decision in the winner-take-all 285-pound match as eighth-ranked Cornell (13-2) edged No. 4 Ohio State (11-3) 19-18 on Sunday afternoon at Newman Arena on the campus of Cornell University. The match was part of the NWCA Nationals Duals Championship Series.

The Big Red won six of 10 matches, including five of the final six, and earned bonus points at 157 to claim their 13th win of the season. The Buckeyes' efforts were highlighted by a pin from Micah Jordan at 149 pounds and Nathan Tomasello's technical fall at 133.

Cornell started the dual with a 4-0 victory by Noah Baughman over No. 18 Jose Rodriguez at 125 pounds, but the Buckeyes quickly responded with three straight wins to open up a 14-3 lead. Tomasello improved to 16-0 on the year with another bonus point victory, getting a four-point near fall to finish off his 19-4 technical fall over No. 20 Mark Grey.

In the next bout, true freshman Luke Pletcher gutted out a 5-2 decision at 141 pounds against Will Koll, and then Micah Jordan won for the third straight match by bonus points when he pinned Jonathan Furnas in 5:35.

From there, however, Cornell would go on to win four straight matches, the biggest of which was a major decision by 10th-ranked Sylan Palacio at 157 pounds and No. 3 Brian Realbuto's 3-2 decision over top-ranked Bo Jordan at 174.

After defending national champion and top-ranked Gabe Dean defeated No. 10 Myles Martin 10-5 at 184 pounds to give the Big Red a 16-14 lead, Kollin Moore temporarily swung the momentum back in Ohio State's favor with his 20-9 major decision over Ben Honis at 197. That set up the dual-deciding bout at heavyweight, which was won by Cornell's Sweany.

Next up for Ohio State will be the Big Ten Championships, which take place March 4-5 at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Ind.
