May 29, 2014
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Incoming freshman for the 2014-15 Ohio State men's volleyball season, Aaron Samarin, was placed on the High School Senior All-America Second Team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Thursday (May 29).
Samarin, hailing from Clovis, Calif., is a 6-foot libero and played for Buchanan High School under John Jay. He is a three-time All-Conference and All-Valley honoree and was a member of the state championship team his freshman season. Samarin was a three-year member of the Clovis Volleyball Club (2010-2012) and is currently a member of the Central Cal Club. He has participated in four USA High Performance programs, including the 2012 and 2013 USA High Performance Youth A2 programs.
"Aaron is a great young man who we have watched very closely over the past two years," Ohio State head coach Pete Hanson said upon Samarin's signing back in November. "As we followed his progress it became very apparent that he embraces and thrives in competitive situations and challenges. We feel these are great attributes that will only enhance our program at the libero position."
