Blough, Guessous Named Freshmen All-Americans by Off the Block

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Setter Christy Blough and middle blocker Driss Guessous have both been selected as Freshmen All-Americans by Off The Block. The Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Freshmen All-American Team is the only of its kind presented in men's college volleyball.

Ohio State and USC are the only two schools with multiple players to make the nine-member squad. The Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Freshmen All-American Team is chosen by a nationwide voting committee consisting of 22 men's volleyball head coaches and volleyball reporters from around the country.

Opposite - Thomas Hodges, Pacific
Outside hitter - Roberto Perez Vargas, Erskine
Outside hitter - Lucas Yoder, USC
Middle blocker - Andy Benesh, USC
Middle blocker - Driss Guessous, Ohio State
Middle blocker - Owen McAndrews, Loyola
Libero - Johnny Gomez, Belmont Abbey

Blough led all freshmen and was among the nation's leaders with 10.80 assists per set average. Guessous paced the MIVA with a .446 attack percentage and had 12 matches with double-digit kills. The middle blocker was also in the conference's top-10 averaging 0.88 blocks per set.
