Columbus, Ohio – Evan Stifel, a member of the Ohio State track & field and cross country squads, is one of 12 Ohio State student-athletes scheduled to travel to the Dominican Republic from Dec. 15-19 for an international service-learning experience. The Department of Athletics, SASSO and Buckeyes Go International are partnering with Soles4Souls for the fifth time.
“I’m really looking forward to working with other athletes, getting outside of my comfort zone, and hopefully making a small difference in some people’s lives that are not as privileged as I have been,” the senior distance runner said. “I also look forward to learning as much as I can from the people that live there and gaining a new perspective on how fortunate I have been with the opportunities I have been given”
Soles4Souls is a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting poverty through the distribution of shoes and clothing. More information on Soles4Souls can be found at soles4souls.org This marks the first winter trip for OSU Athletics and two new sports programs will partake in the adventure as cross county and wrestling are sending their first representatives on a service-learning experience.
