Columbus, Ohio – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released All-Academic honors for the 2016-17 academic year on Thursday and Friday.
On Thursday, the USTFCCCA announced that both of Ohio State’s women’s and men’s teams were All-Academic Team honorees. The women’s team racked up a GPA of 3.263, while the men’s team finished the academic year with a 3.019 GPA. All in all, a total of 360 teams received the honor.
In order to be qualified for the team honor, programs must compete at the national championship meet and have a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher.
On Friday, the USTFCCCA revealed the individual athletes from programs around the country that earned USTFCCCA All-Academic individual honors. The Buckeyes had a total of 15 athletes (10 women and five men) garner the honor. In order to qualify for the award, individuals must have accrued a GPA of 3.25 or higher and placed inside the top 96 in the country for indoor season in their respective event or competed at the NCAA East/West Preliminaries during the outdoor season.
