COLUMBUS, Ohio – Redshirt senior Michael Hartfield has been named Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. It marks the third weekly Big Ten field award of his career.
The three-time Big Ten long jump champion set a new personal record in his season debut this past weekend at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational in Nashville, Tenn., besting his old mark by four inches. His mark of 8.08m (26-6.25) ranks the Manchester, Conn., native No. 1 in Division I this season and third all-time in the OSU record book in the long jump.
The Buckeyes are back in action April 6 at the Jim Click Shootout in Tucson, Ariz.
