COLUMBUS, Ohio – Continuing with the trend of top-tier recruiting classes, Ed Beathea, Ohio State men’s track and field head coach, has announced four highly-touted preps that are set to join the Buckeye ranks in the Fall of 2013.
The foursome includes two in-state products and national throw leaders, a three-time Delaware state champion and nationally-ranked 400m runner, and an Italian distance specialist.
“Programmatically we committed to recruiting top-level talent both on and off the track to Columbus,” Beathea said. “This group of young men is committed to the pursuit of greatness and represents three target areas we were looking to strengthen. We are excited about these commitments and should have our full 2013-14 class complete within the month.”
“These student-athletes embody the spirit of our program and will propel the tradition of excellence that is Ohio State. Our staff did an outstanding job in the identification and recruitment process.”
The Buckeyes will see an immediate resurgence in the throwing events with the commitments of Dylan Dyke and Aaron Zedella.

Coach Beathea: “I was impressed with Dylan’s excitement for our program the first time I met him. He has a strong high school resume and should be in a position to contribute to the team right away. He works very hard at his craft. Dylan and his family are a perfect fit for our program and university.”
Assistant Coach Ross Richardson: “Dylan has shown a tremendous passion for throwing and his ability across multiple indoor and outdoor throws events makes him one of the top throwers in the country. We feel that he is maturing in to his body each month and that he will make a quick transition to being as successful in college as he has been at the high school level.”

Coach Richardson: “Aaron is bringing a tremendous amount of athleticism to our throws group as we feel he is one of the most well rounded throwers in the country. He has thrown the shot, discus, hammer and indoor weight all at a very high level and I am excited to see where we can take these events when he starts competing collegiately.”

“I am very excited to sign three top-10 student-athletes for next fall and to have had Alex here on campus this past January,” Beathea added. “This is exactly the kind of class we talked about in the fall as a staff. All of them address different needs for our program and make us stronger moving forward. My staff is doing a great job of recruiting the kind of student-athletes we need to win a Big Ten championship and make ourselves known on the national stage.”
