Columbus, Ohio – Five days after registering the third-best long jump in the world for 2018, Zack Bazile of the Ohio State track and field team has been named the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week.
Entering his sixth and final jump of the meet at the Music City Challenge on Friday night, Bazile leaped out to a massive personal best of 8.13-meters (26-8.25) to run away from the competition with gold. The jump was tied for the third longest in the world in 2018, No. 1 in the NCAA and No. 2 in school history.
In addition to his astounding performance in the long jump, Bazile also picked up a fourth-place showing in the triple jump (15.19m/49-10.00) and an 11th-place finish in the 60m dash with a readout of 6.85.
Ohio State will host its final indoor meet of the season this Friday at French Field House. Field events begin at 4 p.m. and the track events will start at 4:30 p.m.
