COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior Chris Fallon advanced to the mile final at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., after a fifth-place finish in his semifinal heat Friday evening.
“Chris ran a perfect prelim,” Brice Allen, distance coach for Ohio State men’s track and field, said. “He was very patient through 1000m, avoided traffic, anticipated the move with 500 to go and executed the last 200m. His ability to execute fast paced races is exceptional and that is what you come to expect from your seniors.”
Fallon, a native of Copley, Ohio, turned in a time of 4:00.36 – the fifth fastest on the day – to secure his spot in the 10-man championship race, set for 7:10 p.m. ET Saturday night. Arizona’s Lawi Lalang won Fallon’s heat and placed first overall in a time of 3:58.52.
Meanwhile, Demoye Bogle concluded his indoor campaign with a 15th-place finish in the 60m hurdle semifinals. The junior’s time of 7.84 seconds is good for Second Team All-America honors.
