Athletes from all levels, including individuals from more than 50 universities are scheduled to compete in the two-day event. Universities will get the action underway on Friday, April 22 at 2:00pm with the Women's Javelin and Men's Discus. The running events will open Friday also with the Women's 5,000 at 7:30pm under the lights. Saturday's events will start at 10:00am.
Like the "J.O. Classics" of the past, the 2016 edition will serve as a stage for collegiate and post-collegiate athletes to perform at their highest levels in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. In its history, the Jesse Owens Track Classic has served as a top venue for many future and former Olympians. Current and past record holders for the Jesse Owens Track & Field Classic include Olympic medalists John Drummond, Michelle Finn, Allen Johnson, Edwin Moses, Dwight Stones and former Buckeyes Diane Dixon, Joe Greene and Butch Reynolds. Others of Olympic fame include Judi Brown, Roger Kingdom, Carl Lewis, Louise Ritter and Calvin Smith, as well as past OSU Olympians Mark Croghan and Stephanie Hightower.
Days: Friday, April 22, 2:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.; Saturday, April 23, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Plan to be in by 5 pm as the traffic for Garth Brooks will start to become heavy by 4:30 pm on Friday. We would encourage you to bring your modes of transportation down Lane Ave and then turn left onto Fred Taylor Drive to access Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium as your lot is just northwest of the stadium for all university vans and buses or Ackerman Rd and turn right onto Fred Taylor Drive (you will have to turn the bus or vans around to park with this option). Buses/vans may drop off in front of the stadium and then are asked to park in Buckeye 1, just northwest of the stadium (Black area on map).
Public Parking: On Friday, April 22, fans may park in the Gray lots (colored in red on the map), just south of Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium along Fred Taylor Drive. On Saturday, April 23, fans may park in the lots south and northwest of JO stadium.
