Redshirt junior Hunter Callahan also begins play in the 2013 ITA Men’s All-American Championships in the qualifying singles. In the 2012, the Lower Gwynedd, Pa., native withdrew in the second round of pre-qualifying before losing to Jeremy Efferding of Texas A&M in the first round of qualifying, 6-1, 7-6.
The Buckeyes will boast the duo of Kobelt and Kevin Metka in qualifying doubles. Although the tandem did not compete together often in 2012, they managed a 6-1 record, including going 3-1 in tournament play. The doubles team of Kobelt and Metka also will serve as fifth alternate for main draw doubles play.
Buckeyes in Prequalifying Singles
Kevin Metka, a redshirt junior from Worthington, Ohio, and Constantin Christ, a sophomore from Eppstein, Germany, make their second-consecutive appearances in the prequalifying singles stage of the ITA Men’s All-American championships. Christ went 3-1 last year, suffering a defeat at the hands of Wake Forest’s Adam Lee 6-4, 6-4. Metka won two matches before a loss to James McKie of Drake 6-4, 6-2.
