COLUMBUS, Ohio -- JJ Wolf, a sophomore on the Ohio State men's tennis team, will play for a wild card into the 2017 US Open main draw Sunday afternoon after advancing to the final of the USTA Boys' 18 National Championship. After a bye in the first round, Wolf, the No. 5 seed, won his next four matches in straight sets. He downed the No. 1 seed in three sets in the quarterfinals, coming back from a set down for a 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 victory. In the semifinals, Wolf won in straight sets over the No. 12-ranked player, 6-3, 6-1.
In 2017, Wolf was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and ITA Midwest Regional Rookie of the Year. He and earned First Team All-Big Ten honors and was recognized as an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
