COLUMBUS, Ohio - Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola, the No. 1 doubles tandem for the Ohio State men's tennis team during the 2011-12 season, were named Campbell/ITA National Men's Doubles Team of the Year the ITA announced. The Buckeye duo is the first pair in program history to earn the prestigious honor since its inception in 2000.

The tandem will be recognized at the International Tennis Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony July 14 in Newport, R.I. The ceremony is part of the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships weekend.

Buchanan and Rola made NCAA history in May when they became the first doubles tandem to win all three major collegiate championships in one season - D'Novo/ITA All-America Championships, USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships and NCAA Championships. Buchanan and Rola went 14-0 during the three championship runs and for the season amassed a 36-4 overall record. Additionally, the pair went 18-1 vs. nationally-ranked opponents as they held down the No. 1 position throughout the spring season.

Buchanan, who wrapped up his senior season with the Buckeyes as a five-time All-American, collected 112 career doubles victories, which places him sixth in the Buckeye records book. The New Albany, Ohio, native's 44 doubles wins in 2011-12 propelled him to the top of the Ohio State single-season doubles record. Overall, he finished his career with a 108-24 singles record, including a 32-7 ledger in 2011-12. The 108 wins ties him for 10th all-time in the Ohio State records book and his 220 combined singles and doubles wins places him sixth at Ohio State.

Rola, a three-time All-American from Slovenia, is second at Ohio State in single-season doubles victories with 43. Advancing to the semifinals of the 2012 NCAA Singles Championship, Rola, who just completed his sophomore campaign, finished the season with a team-leading 37 wins.
