Setting The Scene

  • The Ohio State Buckeyes head to Charlottesville, Va., to compete in the ITA National Indoor Team Championships this weekend.
  • The Buckeyes are the No. 3-seed in the event and will open the tournament against No. 14-seed Oklahoma on Friday morning at 9 a.m.
  • Ohio State qualified for the event by beating both Utah and Old Dominion in the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Columbus three weeks ago.
  • This will be the 11th-straight year the Buckeyes have participated in the National Indoor Team Championships.
  • Ohio State’s has won one title and that came in 2014 in Houston, Texas. The Buckeyes defeated USC 4-1 in the championship match.



  • The Buckeyes are 4-2 all-time in the six previous meetings with Oklahoma.
  • OSU won the first three matches in the series and then Oklahoma has won a home and home series in 2014 and 2015.
  • The Buckeyes won last season’s meeting 4-1 in Norman behind singles victories from Mikael Torpegaard, Martin Joyce and Chris Diaz.
  • Ohio State head coach Ty Tucker is 2-2 against Oklahoma, having also led the Buckeyes to a 6-1 victory in Columbus during the 2006 season.
