COLUMBUS, Ohio – Through its first six matches of the season, Ohio State has done nothing to diminish its lofty status and the latest USTA and ITA rankings reflect that fact. The Buckeyes remain No. 1 in the USTA College Tennis Poll and No. 2 in the Oracle/ITA Rankings.
Individually, four Buckeyes are ranked in the singles rankings as well as a pair of doubles teams. Mikael Torpegaard dominated in both singles and doubles last weekend in the win over No. 13 Texas and remains at No. 5 in the singles rankings. He and Martin Joyce, fresh off their win over the No. 5 team in the country, re-enter the rankings at No. 25.
Kyle Seelig started the spring at No. 26 and is now No. 30 while JJ Wolf jumped 19 spots from No. 60 to now No. 41 after his resounding 6-1, 6-0 win over No. 37 Leonardo Telles last Saturday. Freshman John McNally holds steady at No. 56 this week.
The Buckeyes have another tough weekend ahead of them as they will take on No. 6 Texas A&M on Friday night at the VTC and then host No. 11 Florida on Sunday at Noon. OSU fell at A&M last spring and beat the Gators in Gainesville.
