Columbus, Ohio - The Ohio State men's tennis doubles team of Peter Kobelt and Kevin Metka advanced to the main draw doubles at the 2013 ITA All-American Championships. After a first round bye, the Buckeye tandem won their next three qualifying matches to earn a spot in the main draw.
Beginning play in the second round of qualifying doubles, Kobelt and Metka dropped only one game to Ismael Dinia and Sidharta Hazarika, Binghamton University, en route to an 8-1 victory. Advancing to the third round of play, Kobelt and Metka defeated Oystein Steiro and Nelson Vick, North Carolina, by an 8-3 margin. With a spot in the main draw awaiting the winner, Kobelt and Metka faced Jeremy Efferding and Jordan Szabo, Texas A&M in the fourth round of qualifying doubles. The Ohio State tandem won 8-3 and will compete in the main draw doubles Thursday.
In addition to playing in the doubles bracket, Kobelt will begin competition in the main draw singles as well Thursday. In 2012, Kobelt advanced to the championship singles match before falling 7-5, 6-1 to Virginia's Alex Domijan.
