Buckeyes Continue Play at 2013 ITA All-American Championships

Three members of the Ohio State men’s tennis team competed in the first round qualifying stages of the 2013 ITA All-American Championships at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla., Monday. Constantin Christ, Hunter Callahan and Chris Diaz all failed to advance to the second round of qualifying singles, which will begin Tuesday.
Diaz was defeated by NC State’s Austin Powell in the opening round of qualifying singles. After winning the first set 6-2, Diaz lost the second and third sets 6-4, 6-3, respectively. Christ rallied after losing the first set, but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-3 to Max De Vroome, USC and Adam Lee, Wake Forest defeated Callahan 6-4, 6-4 in their respective first round qualifying singles matches at the ITA All-American championships.
The doubles team of Kobelt and Metka advanced to the second round of qualifying doubles with a first round bye and will face either Army’s tandem of Asika Isoh and Harrison McCormick or Robin Haden and Florian Lakat from Mississippi State.
