Had a great first season on the court, finishing with a singles record of 30-7 … Was 2-3 in his five doubles matches … Went 24-5 in dual matches during the spring, including 6-0 at the No. 5 spot and 10-3 at the No. 6 spot … Started the year with his first collegiate victory en route to advancing to the round of 16 at the ITA Midwest Regional … Then made a run to the finals of the Big Ten Singles Championship, finishing runner-up to Northwestern’s Dominik Stary … Started the spring by going undefeated in his first 11 matches, winning eight of those matches … Defeated Jochen Bertsch of No. 4 Oklahoma in the Buckeyes’ home match against the Sooners in March and then knocked-off Runhao Hua of Michigan 7-6, 6-1 … After losing back-to-back matches in the middle of the Big Ten season, he rallied to go undefeated in his next eight matches to help the Buckeyes clinch their 12th-straight Big Ten regular season crown, win the Big Ten Tournament and make a run to the semifinals of the NCAA Championship … That run included a critical comeback 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory over TCU’s Trevor Johnson in the NCAA Quarterfinals
