To cap a successful start to the 2012-13 swimming and diving season, the Ohio State men’s and women’s programs are both nationally ranked in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America Top 25 dual meet poll.

Throughout the season the CSCAA will produce in-season rankings of the 25 best performing swimming and diving programs, alternating weeks between the men’s and women’s team rankings. The most recent men’s poll was released on Nov. 6, while the women’s proceeded on Nov. 13.

As one of six schools representing the Big Ten Conference in the current rankings, the Buckeye women climb to No. 16 after initiating the season unranked. With a 4-1 overall record, Ohio State claims a spot in the Top 25 following a strong weekend of swimming away from home. In its first road test of the season, the group posted 11 individual season best times despite falling to the seventh-ranked Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville, Tenn. (Nov. 9). The Scarlet and Gray then rebounded the very next day, winning 13 of 16 events over Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

The latest rankings on the men’s side have the Buckeyes posted in the No. 22 spot. The poll, however, only accounts for wins up until Nov. 6; therefore, Ohio State’s recent wins over the No. 13 Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville, Tenn. (Nov. 9) as well as the Buckeyes’ downing of Miami in Columbus (Nov. 9) are not included. Ohio State is one of seven ranked teams hailing from the Big Ten Conference, including top-ranked Michigan.

Ohio State swimming and diving is back in action Nov. 16-18 when the men’s squad travels to Cleveland, Ohio for the Cleveland State Invitational. Both the men and women will then host the Ohio State Invitational at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, Nov. 30 – Dec. 2.
