COLUMBUS, Ohio - Junior Ohio State diver Shane Miszkiel earned the Big Ten Conference’s Diver of the Week award after his performance in Ohio State’s two wins over Cleveland State and Kenyon this past Friday. The award is Miszkiel’s third of his career.
Miszkiel, a native of Victoria, B.C., took first on the one-meter springboard with a score of 371.85 and he followed with another winning score of 338.30 on the three-meter springboard. Both event scores were NCAA Zone Diving qualifying marks. His wins helped the Buckeyes cruise to a 178.00-104.00 win over the Lords and a 171.00-110.00 victory over the Vikings, respectively, to begin the 2012 campaign with a 2-0 record.
Miszkiel returns to the diving well for his junior season after claiming the one-meter title at the 2012 Big Ten Championships with a score of 401.75. He finished fifth in the three-meter diving and third in the platform event last season.
The Ohio State men’s swimming and diving team returns to action at 6 p.m. Friday in a co-ed meet vs. Denison at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
