COLUMBUS, Ohio - Two members of the 11th-ranked Ohio State men's swimming and diving team - Stephen Ettienne and Matt McHugh - have garnered weekly honors from the Big Ten, the conference announced today.
Ettienne is the Diver of the Week while McHugh is the Freshman of the Week. Ettienne, a junior from Waterbury, Conn., placed first in the three-meter (410.03) diving competition last Friday against Kenyon College and met NCAA Zone Diving standards. This is his first-career Diver of the Week honor.
McHugh, a freshmen from West Bend, Wis., placed first in the 100-yard butterfly (48.62), 100-yard backstroke (49.18) and 200-yard medley relay (1:31.40), helping the Buckeyes post a 186-101 victory against Kenyon.
Up next, Ohio State (2-0) will host Cleveland State, Virginia Tech and Denison at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on Friday beginning at 4:40 p.m. As always, admission is free.
