Steffen Hillmer Named B1G Freshman of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Steffen Hillmer, a freshman on the Ohio State men’s swimming and diving team, was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. Hillmer, a native of Essen, Germany, earns his first career weekly honor.
Hillmer was a part of the 400-yard freestyle relay that claimed first with a time of 3:01.20 to close out a 176-122 win over the University of Kentucky Oct. 11 in Lexington, Ky. The OSU freshman also posted two Top 5 marks in both of his individual events, earning a runner-up spot in the 200 freestyle event with a time of 1:41.15, while notching a fifth-place finish in the 100 freestyle, touching the wall at 46.61.
Up next, the Buckeyes (1-0) will host their annual Scarlet and Gray intrasquad meet at 5 p.m. Friday at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The squad will then have its alumni vs. varsity meet at 11 a.m. Saturday. As always, admission is free.
