Buckeyes Collect 10 Wins at Peppe-Bruce Memorial Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Members of the Ohio State men's swimming and diving team won 10 events and set five meet records at the annual Mike Peppe-John Bruce Memorial Invitational, held at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion July 4-6. DJ MacDonald and Peter Lyon led the way with individual victories in multiple events.

MacDonald picked up victories and set meet records in the 200 breaststroke (2:13.96) and 100 breaststroke (1:01.65). His 100 breast time saw him shave off 11 seconds from the prelims (2:24.96) and is one of the fastest times in the United States this year. Not to be outdone, Lyon was the winner in the 100 butterfly (55.96) and 200 butterfly (2:05.89), setting a meet record in the 200. Michael DiSalle's winning time of 1:51.19 in the 200 freestyle edged out Steffen Hillmer, who clocked a 1:51.41, also a meet record.

The Buckeyes had eight different event winners in eight other events. Rising junior Josh Fleagle set a meet record in the 100 freestyle (50.92). First-place finishers included Hillmer (400 freestyle), Chris DePietro (400 individual medley), Steven Zimmerman (200 backstroke), and Rowan Williams (100 backstroke).
