Ettienne, McHugh Earn Weekly B1G Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Two members of the No. 9 Ohio State men’s swimming and diving team have earned weekly honors from the Big Ten, the conference announced today. Junior Stephen Ettienne is the Diver of the Week and Matt McHugh is the Freshman of the Week.
Ettienne, a Waterbury, Conn. native, placed first in the one-meter (392.40) and three-meter (382.20) diving competitions in Ohio State’s dual meet win versus West Virginia. The next day, he recorded two first-place finishes in the one-meter (377.25) and three-meter (330.83) diving competitions against Michigan. All four dives met NCAA Zone Diving standards. This is his second Diver of the Week honor this season.
McHugh, from West Bend, Wisc., recorded two NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the 100-yard backstroke (48.21 seconds) and 100-yard butterfly (47.84 seconds) during Ohio State’s dual meet versus No. 1 Michigan. A night earlier in the Buckeyes’ 177-99 victory over West Virginia, he placed first in the 50-yard freestyle (20.62 seconds). This is McHugh’s third Freshman of the Week honor.
Ohio State returns to action on Friday, Feb. 7 when it takes on Wright State at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The Buckeyes will also host the annual Ohio State Winter Invite Feb. 8-9. As always, admission is free.
