No. 10 Ohio State, Miami Compete In Relay-Only Meet

OXFORD, Ohio. – The Ohio State men’s swimming and diving team competed in a non-scored, relay-only meet on Saturday against Miami University. The Buckeyes sent members of their team who did not compete last night against Purdue, Northwestern and Iowa.
In the opening event, the 3x100 yard butterfly relay team of Gavin Trebilcock, Gunnar Wolfe and Nick Wrightson finished second with a time of 2:36.75. That was followed up with a first-place showing from the 3x100 yard backstroke relay team of Andrew Appleby, Dominic Pecze and Chris DePietro (2:35.56).
Next was the 3x100 yard breaststroke relay where John Zucca, Andrew Braun and Sam Decker clocked a 3:00.55 to finish in second place. The 800 yard freestyle relay team of Keeler Callahan, Charlie Fry, Ian Betts and Alex Osterhage finished in second place (6:54.15).
The day’s fifth event consisted of the 3x50 yard medley relay as Pecze, Dak Stone and Nick Wrightson clocked a 1:14.28 to finish in second place. The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Wolfe, Alex Rosen, Decker and Fry followed with a time of 1:25.84 to place second.
The Scarlet and Gray picked up its second first-place showing of the afternoon in the 3x500 freestyle relay when Jack Hendricks, Sean Monahan and Betts touched the wall in 14:08.27. Ohio State followed that up with a first-place finish in the 400 yard medley relay as Trebilcock, Braun, Stone and DePietro clocked a time of 3:31.27.
The meet concluded with the 400 yard freestyle relay where Wolfe, Fry, Keeler Callahan and Rosen placed second (3:08.39).
Ohio State returns to action Nov. 22-24 when it hosts the annual Ohio State Invitational at The Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Participating team’s on the men’s side this year include Florida, Kentucky and Virginia.
