COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State men's swimming and diving team took down in-state foe Denison, 193-98, Friday night at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The Buckeyes dominated the night with wins in all 16 events, including three from members of the freshman class.

Ohio State opened the meet by taking the Top 3 spots the 200 medley relay event. The Scarlet and Gray sweep was led by the team of Zach Birnbrich, Keanu Stevenson, Tim Phillips and Zach Holmes, which finished first in 1:30.71.

Sophomore Rowan Williams touched first in the 1000 freestyle in 9:31.56, while teammate Sean Monahan finished second in 9:35.02. In the 200 freestyle, junior Alex Miller claimed a win with a time of 1:39.71.

"What I really liked was the fact that our guys kept racing even after we were doing so well," Ohio State head coach Bill Wadley said. "They were racing really hard and most importantly having fun while racing. Just racing and giving it your best is a critical part of trying to get better."

Continuing to build momentum for the Buckeyes, Birnbrich followed up his victorious 200 medley relay performance with a win in the 100 backstroke (51.02). Rookie DJ MacDonald carried on the effort by touching first in the 100 breaststroke (56.96), while another freshman Andrew Yunker also took home the 200 butterfly (1:53.59).

In the last event before a brief break in action, senior Jason Schnur claimed a win in his signature 50 freestyle in 20.39. The Scarlet and Gray recorded a 110-21 lead at the break.

Returning to action, sophomore Michael Meldon touched first in the 100 freestyle (46.99), while freshman Peter Lyon and junior Michael Gallagher tied for a win in the 200 backstroke (1:53.29).

Adding to the Buckeye total, Stephen Koch claimed victory in the 200 breaststroke (2:05.55).  Nick Wrightson dropped a time of 4:38.14 for a win in the 500 freestyle, while Tamas Gercsak won the 100 butterfly (50.53).

Finishing up the night, sophomore Steven Zimmerman placed first in the 200 individual medley, while the 400 freestyle relay of Schnur, Josh Fleagle, Birnbrich and Meldon took first in 3:00.42.

In the diving competition, Shane Miszkiel won the 1-meter and 3-meter events with scores of 388.35 and 415.50, respectively.

Up next, Ohio State will be dividing its team into two squads next week as the Buckeyes will travel to Tennessee Nov. 9, while hosting Miami that evening at 5 p.m. at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
