March 8, 2014
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Senior Alex Miller made the most of his final opportunity to qualify for the 2014 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, clocking a 4:18.64 in the 500 freestyle at Georgia Tech's Last Chance Meet on Saturday.
Miller, who swam a season-best 4:20.70 in the prelims, came back in the finals and shaved just over two seconds off the time. His time is an NCAA "B" cut.
Teammate Steven Zimmerman notched a 1:41.66 in the 200 backstroke, which is also an NCAA "B" cut and puts him in position to qualify for NCAAs, which take place March 27-29 in Austin, Texas. His time is the third fastest in school history and currently 20th in the country.
Georgia Tech's Last Chance Meet continues tomorrow with the preliminary round at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
