COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State men's swimming and diving team remain in the Top 3 after day two of the 2013 Big Ten Championships Thursday night in Bloomington, Ind. The Buckeyes are in third place with 170 points behind Michigan (316) and Indiana (237) following the second session of finals at Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center.
Junior diving Shane Miszkiel highlighted the night with a runner-up finish in the one-meter springboard, posting a score of 343 points.
Alex Miller began the night for the Buckeyes with a seventh place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:18.70. Rowan Williams placed 16th overall with a time of 4:24.60. His time was an NCAA "B" finish.
Next in the 200 individual medley, Tamas Gercsak placed ninth overall with an NCAA "B" time of 1:44.99, while Steven Zimmerman was 12th overall with a time of 1:46.63. Tim Phillips rounded out the event, placing 16th with a time of 1:48.81. All three times were NCAA "B" marks.
The Scarlet and Gray return to the pool Friday morning for the second session of prelims with six events scheduled, including the 400 individual medley, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and three-meter springboard. Prelim competition begins at 11 a.m. from Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center.
