As a junior (2012): Qualified for the 2012 NCAA championships in the 200 butterfly ... set the second best time in Ohio State history in his signature 200 butterfly event at the Big Ten championships with a time of 1:44.59 ... finished in the Top five in the event at the conference meet ... tallied two individual wins during the season - vs. Harvard (100 butterfly) and vs. Miami (200 butterfly) ... ranked second on the Buckeye depth chart in the 100 butterfly with a fastest time of 47.57 ... earned Academic-All Big Ten and Ohio State Scholar-Athlete recognition.
As a sophomore (2011): Competed at the Big Ten Championships as a sophomore and scored points in the 100 and 200 butterfly ... at the Purdue Invitational, Luke placed second in the 200 butterfly and sixth in the 100 butterfly ... named an Ohio State Scholar-Athlete.
As a freshman (2010): Luke was one of only two freshmen Buckeyes to make the Big Ten Conference championship team in 2010 ... had a fine Big Ten championships as well, making the final in the 200 butterfly and finishing eighth with a time of 1:47.54 ... swam the third-fastest 200 fly time in school history (1:45.83) and he has a 47.86 best in the 100 fly (eighth at OSU) ... named an Ohio State Scholar-Athlete.
Background: Luke attended the Shore School where he was a captain of his 2008 team ... chose Ohio State on the recommendation of his coach and that of current teammate George Markovic ... won one gold and two silver medals at the 2009 Australian Youth Olympic Festival ... plans on majoring in biology, pre-medicine.
