COLUMBUS, Ohio – If you’ve been watching the World Cup like the rest of the country these past three weeks, odds are you probably also have seen Ohio State. Former men’s soccer players Roger Espinoza (2007) and Geoff Marsh (2005-08) were each shown in the official World Cup ads by KIA. Haven’t noticed? Click the links above to see for yourself.
The ads all feature Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima, who in each of the three ads, drives up in her KIA to convince fans of the world that they should become World Cup supporters. In one of her ads, Lima changes the channel on the television from football to fútbol and it’s Roger Espinoza (No. 27) taking the ball through the midfield during a match during the 2007 year. In another ad, Marsh (No. 9) is featured when she changes the channel from racing to soccer and it’s the former Buckeye midfielder sending a through ball into the box.
The 2007 campaign turned out to be one of the best in program history – advancing to its first NCAA College Cup and winning its second Big Ten championship.
