COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to San Diego Friday night at Toreros Stadium in San Diego, Calif. The Buckeyes dip to 1-3-1 on the season, while the Toreros earn their first win of the year and improve to 1-2.
Eli Galbraith-Knapp and Joey Dei Rossi accounted for the USD scores, both in the second half. Galbraith-Knapp found the back of the net first early in the 50th minute by chipping a shot into the goal off an assist by Patrick Wallen. About 28 minutes, the Toreros stretched the lead to two when Connor Brandt crossed the ball and Dei Rossi was able to finish off the deflection for his first score of the year.
The Toreros had advantages in shots, 19-9, and corners, 8-4. Buckeye goalkeeper Alex Ivanov came up with six saves, including four in the second half, while his USD counterpart Michael D'arrigo made two.
Ohio State wraps up its West coast swing at 1 p.m. PT (4 ET) Sunday against San Diego State at its home field, the Sports Deck. The Aztecs defeated Houston Baptist, 3-2, Friday night and are 1-1-1 on the season.
