Konrad Warzycha

Coach Bluem on Warzycha: "Konrad is such a physical presence on the team and enters 2010 even fitter now than ever before. He can dominate the game in the air and in the midfield. He has a wide array of skills and is capable of scoring big goals for us."

At a glance: Saw action primarily in the central midfield during his first three seasons with the Buckeyes ... greatest strength is his physical strength and size ... has great feet and moves the ball well ... needs to improve on goal scoring in game situations and capitalize on opportunities as an attacking midfielder.

As a junior (2009): Earned a spot on the Second Team All-Big Ten ... started in all 20 games played, logging 1,746 minutes of playing time ... had four assists and two goals en route to finishing the season with eight points ... placed the ball in the net against Penn State (Oct. 18) and Indiana (Nov. 13), both game-winning tallies ... led the team in shots with 57, placing 23 on goal.

As a sophomore (2008): Started all but one of 21 games played ... led the team with 50 total shots, averaging 2.38 attempts per game ... acquired 10 points off three goals and four assists as a midfielder ... scored his first career goal against Penn State 8/11 ... beat two defenders to score the game-tying goal vs. Wisconsin 8/18.

As a freshman (2007): Appeared in 16 games .... second among Buckeye freshmen with 12 shots .... collected his first collegiate point with an assist of Tim Gabel's goal vs. William & Mary Sept. 9 ... saw playing time in 13 consecutive games to start the 2007 season ... missed several games because of injury.

Blast F.C: Led team to Tampa Bay Sun Bowl title and was named tournament MVP in 2005 ... played for the Blast from 1998-2007.

Dublin Jerome H.S.: A first-team All-Ohio selection as a senior ... led Jerome to a district championship while being named team MVP for the second time ... totaled 44 goals and 34 assists as a three-year starter during his high school career, receiving first-team All-Ohio Capital Conference honors twice ... was a first-team all-district selection as a senior and was named the 2006 OCC Player of the Year... in 2005, led Dublin Jerome to a regional championship and an OCC title while also being named the team MVP.

Personal: Son of Robert and Eliza Warzycha ... his father Robert Warzycha, is the head coach of the Columbus Crew ... enjoys playing basketball and football, hanging out with friends and going on club soccer trips ... has two younger siblings, brother Bartosz and sister Olivia ... would like to pursue a soccer career after graduating from Ohio State ... greatest thrill was leading Jerome to 2005 regional championship - team trailed 1-0, but he scored 30 seconds later and Jerome won 3-2.
