Coach Bluem on Santibanez: "Felipe has battled a back injury for the majority of the offseason but gets stronger every day. We had very high hopes for him coming in because of his speed and skill, so we will see how things develop."

At a glance: Natural left-footed player ... had solid experience with Costa Rican U17 national team ... very technical player in the midfield.

As a freshman (2010): Saw action in six games as a reserve, including the first five of the season ... played a season-high 20 minutes vs. Buffalo in the Wolstein Classic (Sept. 5).

Saprissa: Helped lead the club to the U15 national championship in 2008.

International: Played with the U17 Costa Rican National Team ... took the field for the final round of qualifying for the 2009 U17 FIFA World Cup in Nigeria.

Personal: Son of Alfredo Santibanez and Natty Vargas ... has a younger sister, Daniela ... would like to play professional soccer after graduation and further work on a career in civil engineering... enjoys watching soccer and hanging out with friends.
