Coach Bluem on Tiemstra: "David is the anchor of our defense this season and is probably the best defender in the conference. He is a great marker and great in the air and on restart situations. He has scored some big goals for us by being in the right place at the right time."

At a glance: Has started in every career game played his first three seasons ... anchor of the backline ... physical defensive presence and has the ability to pose a threat offensively, especially on restarts.

As a junior (2010): Named Second Team All-Great Lakes Region and College Soccer News Second Team All-American ... Also earned spots on the Goal.com and Top Drawer Soccer Second Team of the Season, along with Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Big Ten accolades ... Started all 19 games played, totaling 1,645 minutes of the field ... scored one goal vs. Akron (Sept. 29), the equalizer with two seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime ... named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week after performance against the Zips.

As a sophomore (2009): Earned the team's Coaches Award after scoring the game-winning goals in both the Big Ten regular-season title game vs. Michigan (Nov. 7) and the tournament final against Penn State (Nov. 15), his only two scores of the season ... named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week (Nov. 10) after securing the win vs. the Wolverines ... also garnered placement on the College Soccer News Team of the Week (Nov. 15) and the Soccer America National Team of the Week (Nov. 11) after that performance ... started in all 20 games played, leading the sophomore class in minutes played with 1,876 ... helped anchor the defense that posted 10 shutouts on the season and limited opponents to a 0.73 goals-against average for the season.... recorded 10 shots on the season ... Academic All-Big Ten selection.

As a freshman (2008): Garnered placement on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team ... named to the Wolstein Classic All-Tournament Team ... played and started all 21 games in the Buckeyes' backfield ... logged a team-leading 1789 total minutes played ... first career goal came as game-winner in the 105th minute vs. Central Florida ... netted his second goal of the year vs. Akron Nov. 7.

HUSA Club, Eclipse: Played for HUSA Club from 2001-2006 and has had club allegiances to Eclipse since 2006 ... numerous titles as a club player including state champion, Pikes Peak champion and USA Cup champion.

Hinsdale Central H.S.: All-American as a senior ... two-time all-state selection ... three-time all-conference selection ... two-time captain ... scored 15 goals and tallied eight assists from his defender position during his prep career.
