COLUMBUS, Ohio - This fall will be a busy one for the Ohio State men's lacrosse program and its current players, alumni and friends. The schedule features fallball scrimmages vs. Detroit and North Carolina, as well as a matchup vs. Buckeye alumni who moved on to professional lacrosse careers and an alumni game. The annual ADA Lindner Memorial and MRB `Thumbs Up' golf outings also are planned for this autumn.
Kicking off the fall slate is the ADA Lindner Memorial Golf outing at the Ohio State University Golf Club Sept. 6. The outing begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start and includes a silent auction and lunch. Registration is still open - click HERE for details and the registration form. Proceeds from the outing go to the Aidan W., Daniel P., and Angela M. Lindner Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is given to a junior on the Ohio State men's lacrosse team who demonstrates the qualities of integrity and leadership. It was established after former Buckeye Dan Lindner (1986-89) lost four members of his family in a traffic accident in 2006. The scholarship honors the memory of his wife, Angela, sons Daniel P. and Aidan, and mother-in-law Dorothy Meller.
The night of Sept. 6, the Buckeye alumni will face off in a game at the Harmon Family Football Park adjacent to Woody Hayes Athletic Center. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. and will pit players from odd graduation years vs. graduates from even years. All alumni are welcome to attend, whether or not they plan on playing in the game.
At 7 p.m. Oct. 4, Ohio State will host Detroit in a fallball scrimmage at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. The Buckeyes and Titans both competed in the 2013 NCAA Championship after winning their respective conference tournaments a season ago. The squads have met five times during the regular season, with this marking the first matchup in the fall. Proceeds from the game will be donated in honor of Colleen Dobbins to Nationwide Children's Hospital. Colleen, the daughter of Buckeye associate head coach Dave Dobbins and his wife, Erin, passed away suddenly at Nationwide Children's Hospital March 24, 2011, at 5 ½ months old. With the help of Lifeline of Ohio and Nationwide Children's Hospital, Colleen became an organ donor and saved the lives of two other children.
Oct. 11-12 features events in Baltimore. Friday is the Tar Heels vs. Buckeyes MRB `Thumbs Up' Memorial Golf Challenge. Proceeds from the outing benefit the Michael R. Breschi Scholarship Fund, which was established in 2004 to honor the memory of the late Michael Breschi, the son former Buckeye and current UNC head coach Joe Breschi and his wife, Julie. The scholarship funds a men's lacrosse scholarship at Ohio State.
The MRB outing will be at Elkridge Club in Baltimore with a four ball match play format pairing two UNC and two Ohio State alumni/alumni parents/friends in each foursome. For more information and a registration form, click HERE.
Oct. 12 the Buckeyes will face North Carolina in a fallball scrimmage at noon at Calvert Hall in Baltimore. The Buckeyes and Tar Heels met in Baltimore the last two years as part of MRB `Thumbs Up' weekend.
Back in Columbus Oct. 18 to wrap up the fall slate, the current Buckeyes will take on the Buckeye alumni who moved on to professional lacrosse. The matchup is set for 7 p.m.
